About Us
Peak Excavating Inc is a general engineering contractor located in Mariposa, California and offers a wide range of excavation, demolition and utility services. Peak services all of Central California but primarily works in Mariposa, Madera, Merced, Fresno and Tuolumne counties for private, commercial and public customers. Peak is licensed through the California State License Board, properly insured for all of the work they perform and registered with the Department of Industrial Relations for public works contracting. We pride ourselves with a commitment to safety, quality and customer communication and we do not believe in taking short cuts under any circumstances.
Peak started out in 2022 as "Peak Excavating and Land Clearing" and was a sole-proprietorship of Wyatt Wass. Wyatt started the business with a pair of chainsaws, a pole saw and a weedeater helping home owners in the mountain area stay CalFire compliant with their defensible space. In the early days Peak was just a side hustle on the weekends while Wyatt worked full time for a local utility company's construction department. Peak's reputation quickly grew as a company who put quality of work and communication with the customers first and over time more and more phone calls came that required more equipment and personnel than one guy and a pick up truck could handle. In August of 2023 Peak was awarded its first public contract with the Eastern Madera County Fire Safe Council and Wyatt went to work for himself full time with the help of his wife Miranda and many other supportive contractors in the mountain area.
Peak Excavating Inc now has several tractors, trucks and a handful of great employees that have greatly increased our capabilities to complete larger projects for public customers. Stepping into the public works contracting world has allowed Peak to greatly increase its credibility and bonding capacities to take on more intricate and sizable projects. Our work for local utility companies has also allowed us to scale up to offering more specialized services like HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) for utility construction. We take great pride in keeping modern equipment and technology on all of our jobsites to provide our customers with modern solutions.
