A licensed contractor built for Central California
Peak Excavating Inc. is a general engineering contractor located in Mariposa, California, offering a wide range of excavation, demolition and utility services.
We serve Central California — primarily Mariposa, Madera, Merced, Fresno and Tuolumne counties — for private, commercial and public customers. From a single homeowner's driveway to large public-works projects, we bring the right equipment and certified crews to every job.
Peak maintains California State License Board certification, proper insurance, and Department of Industrial Relations registration, so you can count on us showing up prepared and accountable on every project.
Our story
From defensible-space work for neighbors to a growing crew running modern equipment across the foothills.
Founded in 2022 by Wyatt Wass as a one-man sole proprietorship, the company started out helping homeowners maintain CalFire compliance through defensible-space work. What began as a single tractor and a commitment to do right by our neighbors quickly became something more.
In August 2023, after winning its first public contract with the Eastern Madera County Fire Safe Council, Wyatt transitioned to full-time operations with the support of his wife Miranda and trusted contractor partners. That milestone turned a side project into a family business with a mission.
Peak has since grown with multiple tractors, trucks and employees, and added specialized services including horizontal directional drilling (HDD) for utility construction. We have stayed rooted in the same values we started with: hard work, honest pricing and a genuine care for the land and the people who live on it.

Mission & core values
Strengthen our community by providing high-quality service that improves infrastructure while preserving natural resources.
Empower & Uplift
Empower and uplift our employees and our families.
Build Community
Build our community through partnerships and high-quality work.

Our team
We hire motivated, self-driven individuals who take pride in doing the job right.
Every employee receives a minimum OSHA 10 safety certification before starting, with annual OSHA 30 training offered, and we coordinate with equipment manufacturers to train our crews on new technology as we add it.
That investment keeps our people safe, our work consistent and our customers confident — whether we are running a forestry mulcher, setting a septic system or steering a directional drill.
