Land clearing is the process of removing vegetation, rocks and unsuitable material from a plot of land to prepare it for construction or agricultural development. It consists of first clearing the above ground vegetation like trees, brush and stumps and then grubbing out the soil to remove roots and rocks from a project site.
Peak has the tools to efficiently clear lots by masticating, debris piling, pile burning and offsite hauling of materials. We have cleared land to make room for house pads, driveways, fence lines, utility routes and rangeland improvement for agriculture.
Earthwork is the process of excavating, moving, compacting and grading soil and/or rock to accomplish an engineering goal such as the construction of building pads, roads and dams. No matter what the intended application is, excavation and grading is the movement of dirt to establish a solid foundation with proper drainage to build off of.
Peak has completed many grading projects for house pads, livestock arena pads, access roads and driveways, terraces for slope stabilization and ponds/dams. There are no jobs too large or small for Peak; we have moved tens of thousands of yards for terrace construction on a failing slope as well as small extensions on existing building pads to make room for additions.
Septic systems are underground wastewater treatment structures that use a combination of natural and technological process to treat wastewater from households and commercial buildings when public sewer systems are not an option. They often times consist of a septic tank for separation of solid and liquid wastes and drain field to dispose of the remaining liquid wastewater.
Peak has constructed both septic and more advanced aerobic wastewater treatment systems and also has experience in making repairs to these systems when they have failed. Peak has installed traditional stone leach fields, bio-chamber/infiltrator style leach fields and even mounded leach systems.
Both wet and dry utilities are placed underground for a number of great reasons; to increase public safety, improve reliability through inclement weather and to enhance aesthetic beauty of properties. Wet utilities consist of any utility that flows, either liquid or gas, such as water, wastewater and natural gas/propane. Dry utilities consist of any other utility that is not liquid or gas but primarily refer to electricity and telecom infrastructure.
Peak has helped many private and public customers with upgrades to their utility infrastructure including all of the types of utilities mentioned above. Water pipelines for households and agricultural use, sewer laterals for public system connection, power and telecom conduits, pull boxes and even homeowner power pole sets are all within our scope of work.
HDD is an acronym for horizontal directional drilling, aka directional boring. Directional drilling is used to place utility pipelines and conduits under sensitive areas such as concrete/asphalt roadways, water courses, vulnerable ecosystems and landscaped areas where open-cut trenching is not a viable option. HDD reduces soil disturbance by boring a tunnel underneath the ground and then pulling back utility product through the tunnel. The bore hole is created with a steerable bit controlled by the drill operator and steered using cutting edge locating technology that is capable of determining depth to within one inch and slope/pitch to within 1% accuracy.
Vacuum excavation is the process of using high pressure air or water to break apart soil while a high flow vacuum pump carries the spoils away into a holding tank. It is often times referred to as hydrovac, potholing, soft digging or daylighting depending on the specific trade or region it is being used in. Vacuum excavation is most commonly used for "daylighting" or exposing existing utilities or infrastructure so that equipment operators are able to work around them safely. It is also a great tool for flushing out clogged pipelines and conduits, cleaning out culverts and cattle guards, and slot trenching through busy areas where traditional excavation methods could harm infrastructure.
Peak Excavating is available and on call for all emergency situations day and night within our standard serving territory. Winter storm services include road repairs and culvert opening, downed tree clearing for right-of-way access and slope stabilization. Other emergency work we have done consists of leach line capping and replacements, sewer lateral replacements and emergency water pipeline replacements. Don't be afraid to call any time to find out how Peak can help you through your situation; if we don't have a solution in house we will try to connect you with another contractor or engineer who does!
